Report what you saw
Tap ⚑ Report on a player's profile, in a chat, or on a Lagos Gist post. According to the help page, the team sees what was said and can respond with a warning, a mute or a ban.
Report the specific message or post rather than describing it from memory, so the team can see the original. If anyone is in danger, the developer advises contacting local emergency services first.
Block someone and limit who can message you
- Block a player from their profile. They can no longer message you, and you will not see them in your chats. You can unblock them later in Settings, under Blocked players.
- Who can message me in Settings lets you allow only friends to start a chat with you.
- The developer says a chat filter stops selling, scams and abuse, and that accounts that keep breaking the rules are muted automatically.
Money offers to treat as red flags
The official terms prohibit several things that often appear as "deals" between players. Treat any of these as a reason to stop, block and report:
- Offers to buy or sell Game Naira for real money, or to swap it through an outside exchange.
- Offers to buy, sell, rent or share an account.
- Anyone, including someone claiming to be staff, asking for your password or owner-question answers. The team says it will never ask for your password.
- Requests to pay outside the game, for example by bank transfer or gift card, to receive items or currency.
- Bots, scripts, macros or "hacks" that promise free money. The terms forbid them, and accounts can be suspended for using them.
Our Game Naira guide explains why balances cannot be cashed out in the first place.
What happens to your chats and location
The privacy policy says direct messages are not end-to-end encrypted. They are stored on the developer's servers so they can be delivered, and the team can read a chat that is reported to it. Public posts can be seen by other players. Avoid sharing your phone number, home address or other private details in any chat.
The policy also says the game never uses GPS. It works out only your approximate city, region and country from your network connection, and your Sim's position is a place in the game world, not your real location.
Age rules
The terms effective 1 October 2026 say Lagos Life is only for people aged 18 or older. The help page adds that Vatar is intended for ages 13 and over, with players aged 13 to 17 placed in a separate teen space where they only meet other teens and where betting, the casino, money tables, real-money purchases and 18+ venues are closed. The same page says that until the teen space opens, accounts must be 18 or over. The privacy policy updated on 17 October 2026 also describes the teen space.
Because these pages were updated at different times, check the current official help page before creating an account for a younger player. Parents or guardians can write to support@lagoslife.app with the @username to ask about or delete a teen's account.
Ads you may see inside the game
The privacy policy describes in-game ads as billboards, branded places, sponsor buttons and similar placements in the game world. It says they are the same for everyone in a place, are not targeted using your personal data, and that advertisers receive only totals per ad.
Seeing a real brand in the game does not by itself mean that company is a partner: the official content disclaimer says only brands labelled as Official Partner, Sponsor, Advertiser or similar have a commercial relationship. This section is about ads inside the game; ads on this field guide are covered in our privacy notice.
